What is the proper method to move a JCB project from one Joomla instance to another?

I've run into problems that are 'odd' (with the site itself - unrelated to JCB) and would like to move the development onto a clean Joomla instance, with a new JCB version.

Is there a way to package up everything related to a component and move it from Joomla instance A to Joomla instance B?

Just to clarify, is there anything other than the EXPORT JCB PACKAGES that needs to be done - either before or after doing that process?
And can a package created in JCB 3.1.12 (or similar) be directly imported into JCB 3.1.24?

Well, I finally got it working.
I had to change around the import settings (disable the merge and go with a few other non-default settings).
